Before anything, it is important that you know which airport you will embark from.

The busiest airport in the United States is the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In 2017, it catered to 51,916,451 passengers. Atlanta International Airport is followed by Los Angeles International Airport, O’Hare International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Denver International Airport. If in this case you are embarking from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, you need to know its layout so you can move easily.

The airport has two terminals – Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. The International Terminal (Concourses E and F) is located on the east side of the airport, which includes immigration and customs services for international passengers. The Domestic Terminal (Courses A, B, C, and D) is located on the west side of the airport.

Now that you know where to go, it is time to consider departure tips. Here are some airport departure tips that you can consider for a stress-free and comfortable flight:

Days before the flight
Many people do not put careful thought in packing that is why some leave it until the last minute. Remember that the things you bring can make or break your travel. Allot at least 2 to 3 days of packing before the flight.

Luggage regulations of your airline

When you are packing, think about the airline luggage regulations. If you already paid for additional luggage, there won’t be a problem. However, if your carry-on exceeds to the limit, you will surely pay the excess. To avoid this unfortunate event, you should pack light

Going to the airport
For domestic flights, it is recommended that you arrive at the airport at least two hours before your scheduled flight.  For international flights, you should arrive at least three hours before your flight. This is enough time to get the boarding pass, go through security screening and the boarding gates.

Security checks to expect
As soon as you collect your boarding pass, you need to submit to security checks. For the screenings, you will need to put your carry-on luggage, shoes and other things in bins. The things will be scrutinised under the X-ray machine.

Waiting to board
After the security checks, the next thing that you need to do is to look for the boarding gate and wait for it to open. Your boarding pass has details about the boarding gate. If you do not see any, just check the large screens that display flight departure times and gates.

When you are on the plane

When you are inside the plane and you located your seat, step out of the aisle so others behind you can continue. Decide whether you want to stow your luggage in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Once settled, do not forget to buckle the seatbelt.
